Tip of the Iceberg Retreat
Leaders
Robin Humphreys is a recent graduate of Columbia Theological Seminary. She has earned her Masters of Divinity and is “certified, ready to receive a call” under care of the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta. She has spent much of the last ten years serving as a youth minister, elementary school teacher, and college ministry director. Needless to say, she very much enjoys interacting with children, youth, and adults of all ages and discovering, with them, the amazing love God has for us in Jesus Christ. She and her husband, Paul, live at the Calvin Center in Hampton, Georgia where he serves as the Program Director. They have a dog, named Cora, who loves running and hiking in God’s creation with them. In the fall of 2008, after completing her CPE (clinical pastoral education) at a homeless ministry in downtown Atlanta, she was offered the position at Friendship Presbyterian as the Director of Outreach and Church Growth. She has found joy serving Christ both in the heart of the city as well as the rural countryside.
Paul Humphreys serves as the Program Director for Calvin Center, the Camp, and Conference & Retreat Center for the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta. He has served in this position for over 8 years and takes great delight in the opportunity to serve our churches and community through the medium of experience and the outdoors. Paul firmly believes that outdoor ministry and the powerful medium of experiential education can contribute greatly to the lives of people from all ages. He is excited to be involved in Tip of the Iceberg Retreat again and contributing to the faith and life journey of children and youth and we collectively as outdoor ministry folks, clergy, Christian educators, youth directors and Parents respond to the vacuum of information that is bombarding our children and youth on spirituality and sexuality.
Stephen Ingram has been married to his wonderful wife, Mary Liz, for 7 years. They have two children Mary Clare who is 4 and Patrick who is 2 years old. He serves Sr. High Director and Assistant Director of Student Ministries at Canterbury United Methodist Church in Birmingham Alabama. Stephen graduated with a B/A from Samford University in Religion in 2003 and a Master of Divinity from McAfee School of Theology, Mercer University in 2008. Stephen has been in Youth Ministry for over 10 years. He enjoys spending time with his family. With his other time he enjoys Traveling, photography, reading, politics, theology, cooking and sports of all kind especially Braves Baseball and Alabama Football.
Neema Cyrus-Franklin serves as the director of youth ministries for 110 churches and 25 immigrant fellowships of the Presbytery of Greater Atlanta. With more than 10 years of youth ministry experience, Cyrus-Franklin has provided leadership in camp and conference ministry and mission for the national, regional and local levels of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). In 1998 Neema graduated from Agnes Scott College with a B.A. in Psychology and a concentration in early childhood education. She later attended Johnson C. Smith Theological Seminary earning a dual master's degree in divinity and Christian education in 2007. Neema loves spending time watching movies with her husband Victor Cyrus-Franklin and going bowling with her 3 year old son, Victor III.
Rev. Phil Brown serves as an Associate Pastor at St. Luke's Presbyterian Church (Dunwoody, GA). Engaging teenagers in the tough questions of faith is one of his favorite things to do. He believes that youth have incredible abilities to grow in faith and push our faith as we all discover how God is working in this world. Phil is excited to spend the weekend talking about God, Jesus, and sexuality with everyone.
Lyric Schwadron. I have been happily married to my best friend for 11 years & counting. We have 3 beautiful children; Brady (10), Clara (8) and Daniel Seth (6). We've been living in Henry County for 6 years, but I've been in Atlanta my whole life. Currently I teach music and bible at McDonough Presbyterian Children's Academy & could not love my job more! My hobbies include singing, reading, and facebooking, driving my kids to all of their activities & spending time with my family. I sincerely hope that my story of surviving sexual abuse will help others.
Jaime Brewington-Fulsang is the Director of Youth Ministry at Northwest Presbyterian Church. She has been serving at Northwest for seven years. Jaime has a Master of Divinity degree from Emory University as well as a bachelor of arts in Christian Ministry from Asbury College. She is recently married to her husband Jason and they live in Marietta, Georgia with Rocket, their dog and Essie, their cat
Marie E. Mitchell, RN, Director of Programs, Jane Fonda Center, Emory University School of Medicine. Ms. Mitchell has worked in the field of adolescent pregnancy prevention for over thirty years as a Family Planning Nurse and Counselor, Certified Sex Educator, Trainer, Program Administrator and Program Developer. Ms. Mitchell is Co-Developer of Teens 4 Teens Video CD-ROM, an innovative approach to help teens focus on abstinence (1999) and You’ve Got the Power CD-ROM, a unique health education tool for African American teen males (2006); Co-Author of Postponing Sexual Involvement: An Educational Series for Teens (2002); Postponing Sexual Involvement: An Educational Series for Young Teens with an accompanying series for parents, and Postponing Sexual Involvement: An Educational Series for Preteens with an accompanying series for parents (1984). She has a Chapter, “Postponing Sexual Involvement: An Educational Series for Young People, “ published in Sexuality Education: A Resource Book edited by Carol Cassell and Pamela M. Wilson (Garland Publishing, Inc., New York, 1989).
Bill Davis serves as Associate Program Director at Calvin Center. A recent graduate of Columbia Theological Seminary, Bill was ordained as a minister of Word and Sacrament in late January. Bill has served camps and churches in North Carolina, Texas, Colorado, Maryland, South Carolina, and most recently Georgia where he has sought to provide children and youth with experiences where they can deepen their walk of faith and understanding of what it means to be followers of Christ. Bill enjoys listening to live music, playing with his dog Jezebel, and can’t wait for the final season of LOST.
Victor Cyrus-Franklin is the Minister of Youth at East Point First Mallalieu United Methodist Church in East Point, GA. He earned the Master of Divinity degree from the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) with a concentration in theology. Through teaching, preaching, living, and learning, Victor has a passion for ministry that fosters intergenerational dialogue, communication, and growth.
