Volunteer Day at Metro Re-Entry Facility
October 22, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Please plan to join us as we host a family fun day at Metro-Re-Entry Facility for returning citizens. Part of the Georgia Department of Corrections, this facility is dedicated to removing barriers to successful integration back into the community. Services at this facility include counseling, substance abuse treatment, spiritual health, job training and education. Additionally, statistics have shown that connectivity to family, especially children is a great predictor of a successful reentry. Trinity will partner with Peachtree Road United Methodist Church (PRUMC) to host a Family Fun Day including games, cookout and dancing for returning citizens and their families on the grounds inside the facility. According to Ed Hamlin, PRUMC member, “Last year we were privileged to serve over 1,200 people and it was a truly meaningful day for all those in attendance.”
There will be three shifts. Volunteers commit to the whole shift (either half day or full). There is no coming and going outside of shift hours. Volunteers must be 18 years and older.
We’ll meet at Trinity prior to the event to carpool.
Coordinators are Stan Tilley, Susan Calloway and Larry Gentry.
